American Meadows: Company Background

American Meadows history began in 1980, when Chy and Ray Allen moved to Vermont and started a wildflower farm. The wildflower farm became a popular tourist attraction which led to the publishing of a wildflower seed catalog. In 2000, realizing that the internet would be a great way to spread the word about wildflowers and wildflower seeds to a much larger audience; they started the American Meadows website. In 2008, they sold the company to one of their long time employees, Michael Lizotte and a high school friend, Ethan Platt. American Meadows is located in Williston, Vermont and you can call them at 1-877-309-7333.

  • "I'm an avid gardener and I buy online a lot from various places but I've found American Meadows the absolute BEST to deal with. where do I start : quality, size, health of the plants, shipping, and if by some chance your product doesn't make it. There is NO PROBLEM in getting a new one and they almost always send you a little gift in each order. I recommend this site to everyone and I expect to have a long relationship with this company forever. I just love them!!"
  • "I ordered this Spring (2013) some seeds and a set of onions. I was at first disappointed because the one packet of seeds was very small (only 5 seeds!) for their organic beans. The website did not list a seed number but even so I thought this was a bit small. I emailed them through Dave's Garden and was very impressed with their promptness in responding. They didn't brush me off and they sent me some extra seeds since the site had not listed the number per packet to expect. (I had also received a very small packet - there should have been more seeds in it.) Overall I was very pleased with their customer service."
